STANDARD FIRST AID 

In Classroom:

16 hours In-class Teaching/Skill verification

CPR Level:

C (Adult, Child and Infant)

Cost:

$160 per student (plus applicable taxes)

Course Description:

Easy to understand in class instruction with skill verification through out for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home or in their communities.

This courses meets national legislation requirements for provincial workplaces, insurance boards and include the latest first aid and CPR guidelines with training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

STANDARD FIRST AID RECERTIFICATION

In Classroom:

7 hours In-class Teaching/Skill verification

CPR Level:

C (Adult, Child and Infant)

Prerequisite:

A current Standard First Aid Certificate from an approved industry program.

Cost:

$110 per student (plus applicable taxes)

Course Description:

Course recertification consists of in class instruction with skill verification through out for work requirements or who want to keep their certification current with updated protocols and standards to respond to emergencies at home or in their communities.

This courses meets national legislation requirements for provincial workplaces, insurance boards and include the latest first aid and CPR guidelines with training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

STANDARD FIRST AID
COURSE GUIDELINES

Course Includes:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) guideline is to have CPR Recertification every year to stay in compliance with provincial legislation and standards.

Lessons Include:

  • The Red Cross

  • Preparing to Respond

  • The EMS System

  • Check, Call, Care

  • Airway Emergencies - Choking

  • Breathing and Circulation Emergencies

  • First Aid/CPR/AED for Respiratory and Cardiac Arrest

  • Wound Care

  • Head, Neck and Spine Injuries

  • Bone, Muscle and Joint Injuries

  • Sudden Medical Emergencies

  • Environmental Emergencies

  • Poisons (includes Opioid Poisoning)

  • Additional information required by specific or provincial legislation

Completion:

  • 3 Year Certification

  • Ability to comprehend and successfully demonstrate skills and critical steps.

  • Minimum 75% passing grade on a written exam. Closed book knowledge evaluation.

  • 100% attendance and participation

Participant Material:

  • Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate (digital certificate issued upon completion)

  • Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR eBook or Purchase a print copy

  • Canadian Red Cross First Aid App (download from your App Store)
